Chefnero ("we", "us", or "our") operates the Chefnero mobile application. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

1. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and role (customer or chef). Chefs may also provide a phone number, bio, cuisine specialties, service area, and profile and cover photos.

Order information: We store the details of orders you place or receive, including your free-text requests, quotes, messages, delivery address, and order status.

Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store card numbers or full payment details. We retain the Stripe payment reference and the transaction amount.

Location data: With your permission, we access your device location to show nearby chefs on the map. Location is used in-session only and is not stored on our servers.

Photos: Chefs may upload food photos to their gallery. These are stored in our secure cloud storage and displayed on the chef's public profile.

Push notification token: If you grant notification permission, we store your device's FCM token to send you order updates.

Usage analytics: We collect anonymised app usage events (e.g. screens viewed, orders placed) via Firebase Analytics to understand how the app is used and improve it.

2. Instagram Data

Chefnero allows chefs to connect their Instagram Business or Creator account to import their food photos into their Chefnero gallery. This is entirely optional.

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the following service providers, solely to operate the platform:

Chef profiles (name, photo, bio, specialties, gallery) are publicly visible to all app users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Order records are retained for up to 7 years for financial compliance. You may request deletion of your account and personal data at any time (see section 7).

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Sensitive credentials (API keys, payment secrets) are stored as environment secrets and never exposed to the client app. Payment card data is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.

8. Children's Privacy

Chefnero is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via a push notification or in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
